Sewa Singh Thikriwala played a crucial role in Punjab's freedom movement. He spearheaded the Praja Mandal movement. This was a self-rule movement against the rulers of Punjab's erstwhile princely states. His commitment to the cause was absolute. He died in jail in 1935 while on a hunger strike.
Since that tragic event, his native village has honored his memory annually. A memorial is held from January 18 to January 20 every year. The haveli stands as a physical reminder of his sacrifice and leadership.
