TVK chief Vijay underwent questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation for approximately seven hours on Monday. The agency is investigating the tragic Karur stampede case. This session marks the second time Vijay has faced interrogation by CBI officials.
Documents and Guidelines Under Scrutiny
Sources revealed that the actor-politician received requests to submit several important documents. These included his application seeking police permission for the rally. Investigators also inquired whether all necessary guidelines were properly followed during the event.
Vijay appeared before a Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officer at the CBI headquarters in Delhi. During his questioning, he maintained that he had followed all police-mandated guidelines throughout the rally. The investigating officer specifically asked why Vijay continued his address even after chaos erupted at the gathering.
Previous Questioning Session
Vijay had previously appeared before the agency on January 12. That session lasted over six hours at the CBI's Delhi office. During that earlier questioning, Vijay told investigators that police had failed to remove bottlenecks on roads leading to the venue.
He also stated that he left the venue immediately to prevent the situation from worsening further. The stampede occurred on September 27 last year and resulted in the deaths of 41 people.
Concerns About Security Arrangements
Vijay reportedly highlighted inadequate security deployment during his latest questioning session. He pointed to the absence of proper crowd-control measures at the rally. These concerns form a crucial part of the ongoing investigation into the stampede tragedy.
The CBI continues to gather evidence and statements as it probes the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. The agency's investigation aims to determine responsibility and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
