The village of Baharampur in Kanpur's Bilhaur area witnessed a somber and dignified farewell on Wednesday as it received the mortal remains of its son, Border Security Force soldier Vinod Pal. The 52-year-old BSF soldier passed away due to a heart attack while on duty in Amritsar, Punjab. His final journey home was marked by an outpouring of grief and official tributes.
Emotional Homecoming in Baharampur Village
As the vehicle carrying the coffin of Vinod Kumar Pal reached his native Araul Baharampur village, a wave of sorrow swept through the community. The soldier's family, including his elderly mother Parvati, wife Meera Pal, son Mayank, and daughter Geetansi, were overcome with emotion upon seeing his body. Their tears mirrored the collective grief of villagers who had gathered to pay their respects to the fallen BSF soldier.
Final Rites Performed with Dignity
The administration ensured that the last rites were performed with full state honours. Naib Tehsildar Chand Prakash Rajput and several police officers were present at the scene to offer their condolences and pay their last tributes. The final ceremony took place on the banks of the Ganga river. A guard of honour was presented by a contingent of security personnel, a solemn recognition of Pal's service to the nation.
