A tragic road accident in Ormanjhi, Ranchi, claimed the life of a seven-year-old boy on Friday. The child, identified as Sahil Kumar Verma, a student of Mount Carmel School, was travelling on a scooter with his mother when a truck struck them. The impact was fatal for the boy, who died on the spot, while his mother, who was driving the scooter, had a narrow escape and sustained minor injuries.

The accident occurred in the Ormanjhi area on Friday. According to police, the truck driver and his helper fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the vehicle behind. The scooter was badly damaged in the crash.
Local Outrage and Protest
Following the incident, local residents and passersby gathered at the spot and blocked the road, demanding immediate arrest of the truck driver and helper, as well as compensation for the bereaved family. The protest caused traffic disruption for some time. The situation was defused after administrative officials intervened and assured the protesters that necessary action would be taken.
Police Response
SP Gaurav Goswami confirmed the details, stating, "The truck driver and his helper fled from the spot, leaving behind the vehicle. Police are taking necessary steps to apprehend them." He added that a case has been registered and investigations are underway. The vehicle has been seized for further examination.
The family of the deceased is in deep shock. Sahil was reportedly the only child of his parents. The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in the area.
