BNP Flags Poor Footpath Conditions Across Seven Wards
The Bangalore Nagarika Parishattu (BNP) has highlighted the deteriorating condition of footpaths across seven wards in Bengaluru, calling for urgent action from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). In a recent statement, the BNP noted that broken, uneven, and encroached footpaths are posing safety risks to pedestrians, especially senior citizens and children.
Wards Affected
The affected wards include: Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar, Sadashivanagar, and Yelahanka. BNP representatives conducted inspections and found that footpaths in these areas are either damaged by tree roots, used for parking vehicles, or obstructed by debris and construction material.
Demands for Repairs
The BNP has demanded that the BBMP immediately repair the footpaths, clear encroachments, and ensure proper maintenance. They also emphasized the need for regular monitoring to prevent future deterioration. The organization warned of launching a larger protest if the civic body fails to act promptly.
Pedestrians in these wards have expressed frustration over the poor state of footpaths, forcing them to walk on roads, which increases accident risks. The BNP's intervention aims to prioritize pedestrian safety and improve urban infrastructure.
