The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is launching a major cleanliness initiative. This two-day drive targets all polling stations across the city. It comes just before crucial civic elections scheduled for January 15.
Massive Deployment for Clean Voting
BMC's Solid Waste Management department will deploy extensive resources. Over ten thousand polling stations will receive special attention. Sweepers and pink army cleaning teams will work at each location.
Officials are installing segregated waste bins at every station. Each polling place will have separate containers for wet and dry waste. This system aims to maintain proper hygiene during voting hours.
Toilet Facilities and School Cleanup
The civic body plans to deploy more than four thousand toilets across the city. Each toilet facility will undergo regular cleaning throughout the voting period. This ensures voters have access to clean sanitation options.
Many polling stations operate within school buildings. Ward staff members will handle school housekeeping duties. Their work will create cleaner environments for voters visiting these locations.
Election Details and Voter Information
Mumbai joins twenty-eight other municipal corporations in Maharashtra holding elections. Voting will occur between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM on January 15. Results will be announced the following day on January 16.
Approximately 1.03 crore voters can participate in these elections. They will choose among nearly 1,700 candidates competing for 227 ward seats. The BMC has deployed over 64,000 staff members to manage the electoral process.
Senior officials oversee the cleaning drive implementation. Assistant engineers from the SWM department will execute plans at ward levels. Zonal executive engineers will supervise their work to ensure proper execution.
