At least eight people were killed and 15 others injured in a massive explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu's Theni district on Saturday. The blast occurred in the early hours, causing extensive damage to the facility and nearby structures.

He also ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident and directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
Union Home Minister also condoled the loss of lives and assured all possible assistance from the central government. He spoke to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and took stock of the situation.
