Tamil Nadu Chief Minister expressed grief over the incident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the seriously injured. Union Home Minister also condoled the loss of lives and assured all possible assistance from the central government. He spoke to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and took stock of the situation.
