In the 2021 assembly elections, the seat was also won by the BJP. At that time, the party's candidate Nandita Garlosa secured 67,797 votes, defeating Congress leader Nirmal Langthasa who polled 49,199 votes. Key Candidates and Campaigns

The 2026 election saw prominent candidates from major parties. The BJP fielded Rupali Langthasa, while the Congress nominated Nandita Gorlosa, the sitting MLA. Gorlosa's switch from BJP to Congress occurred just before the nomination deadline after she was denied a BJP ticket for the Haflong seat. The National People's Party also fielded a strong candidate in Daniel Langthasa.

This victory reinforces BJP's stronghold in the region, while the Congress and NPP will need to reassess their strategies for future elections. The results are part of the broader 2026 assembly elections in Assam, which were held in a single phase.
