BJP Wins Big in Maharashtra Civic Body Elections

BJP Claims Historic Victory in Maharashtra Civic Body Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party has demonstrated its electoral prowess once again with a commanding performance in the Maharashtra civic body elections. Early trends reveal the party leading in multiple major urban centers across the state.

Widespread Leads Across Maharashtra

BJP candidates are currently ahead in numerous municipal corporations. The party holds leads in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad. Other cities where the BJP is performing strongly include Panvel, Kalyan Dombivli, Mira Bhayandar, and Ulhasnagar.

Further leads are reported in Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, Solapur, Akola, Nanded Waghala, Sangli Miraj Kupwad, Jalgaon, Dhule, Jalna, and Ichalkaranji. This broad geographical spread indicates substantial support for the party across Maharashtra's urban landscape.

Party Leaders Hail the Results

At a press conference on Friday, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi celebrated the party's performance. He specifically highlighted the results in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election, where early trends show the BJP emerging as the single largest party with leads in 98 seats.

Trivedi described the victory as "a befitting answer" to opposition parties. He called the win historic and expressed gratitude to Maharashtra's voters for supporting the BJP and its alliance with the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Credit to Leadership and Supporters

"Today, in the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP and our coalition partners achieved a significant victory," Trivedi stated. "This demonstrates that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the BJP and NDA are increasingly gaining support."

The BJP leader extended thanks to the people of Maharashtra and all party supporters. He noted the particular importance of success in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, which he described as one of the largest municipal bodies not only in India but possibly in Asia.

Notable Losses in Mumbai Polls

While the BJP celebrates overall victory, some prominent candidates have faced defeat in specific wards:

  • Ward 185: Ravi Raja of the BJP has lost. Raja previously served as the BMC's opposition leader and joined the BJP after leaving Congress in 2024.
  • Ward 194: Samadhan Sarvankar of the Shiv Sena has been defeated. He is the son of former MLA Sada Sarvankar.
  • Ward 73: Dipti Waikar, daughter of MP Ravindra Waikar, has lost in this ward.

This remains a developing story. Further updates will provide more detailed analysis of the complete election results as they become available.
