Patna: Launching a sharp attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav over his remarks on the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana (MMRY) and Union home minister Amit Shah, Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi on Monday said the statements were driven by “falsehoods, confusion, and political desperation.” He said Tejashwi, having faced repeated rejection, was trying to grab headlines with baseless allegations.
Tejashwi’s Allegations
Tejashwi had alleged the NDA government betrayed women, claiming 18 lakh beneficiaries had not received the first instalment of Rs 10,000, while over 1 crore women were yet to get the second instalment. He also criticised Amit Shah’s remarks in Bengal, saying, “Is this the language of a home minister? In front of (US President) Trump, he doesn’t dare utter a single peep.”
BJP’s Counterattack
BJP MLA Shreyasi Singh said the NDA government has empowered women, while Tejashwi was “shedding crocodile tears.” “The truth is that during the RJD’s rule, women were forced to live in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity,” she said. Saraogi said Tejashwi was making “frivolous and undignified remarks” against national leaders for “cheap popularity.” He added such statements against a leader committed to national security and unity were “utterly reprehensible.”
He added that allegations of money distribution and intimidation during elections were “entirely baseless and ludicrous.” “Misleading the public through sheer falsehoods has long been his ingrained habit,” Saraogi said.
