The 2026 Assembly elections witnessed an impressive overall voter turnout of 92.47%, the highest since Independence. Phase I recorded 93.19% polling, while Phase II saw 91.66%, reflecting strong public participation across the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kolkata for the swearing-in ceremony, where he was greeted by massive crowds during a roadshow. During the event, he felicitated and sought blessings from senior BJP worker Makhanlal Sarkar, underscoring the party's grassroots connection.
