Patna: The Bihar BJP on Monday celebrated the party's victory in the West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry assembly elections. State president Sanjay Saraogi, along with senior leaders including Vijay Kumar Sinha and MLC Devesh Kumar, who had camped in West Bengal for months, joined hundreds of party workers in Patna. The celebration featured drum beats, distribution of sweets, and 'jhalmuri', a puffed rice snack frequently mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his campaign in West Bengal.
Celebrations Across the City
Jhalmuri was also distributed in various parts of Patna to mark the occasion. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary posted on X: "The Bengal where Syama Prasad Mookerjee was born — that Bengal is ours. Heartfelt congratulations to the vigilant and patriotic people of Bengal for delivering a historic mandate to the BJP. Victory to Mother India!"
Party Leaders Express Gratitude
BJP national president Nitin Nabin said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we are dedicated to realising the resolve of 'Sonar Bangla' and to the holistic development of the state." Saraogi remarked that the results, especially in West Bengal, proved that the people wanted to defeat the politics of appeasement, fear, and confusion and move forward on the path of development, trust, and change.
BJP's West Bengal in-charge Mangal Pandey expressed gratitude to the people of the state for delivering a resounding mandate by placing their trust in PM Modi rather than succumbing to the TMC's fear tactics. Pandey said the manner in which the TMC created a ruckus — from filing FIRs to counting votes — made it clear that the party is utterly desperate and demoralised.
Support from Allies
JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha quoted a famous couplet of late Ramdhari Singh Dinkar to congratulate the BJP. He said, "Congratulations, Bengal! After 49 long years, hope finally dawns, lighting the way to a brighter future." Union minister and HAM(S) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi took a jibe at the opposition and said, "Today is the day for jhalmuri. I'm eating it with gusto, so if anyone feels the spice, please don't take it amiss."
Dig at Opposition
Referring to his campaigning in Bengal and Tamil Nadu, BJP also took a dig at leader of opposition in the Bihar legislative assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, through a couplet: "We set out as fellow travellers in search of a destination, but wherever we went, we ended up sinking the very boat we boarded! Their own ground is slipping beneath their feet, yet they set out to become a support for others."
