BJP accuses INDIA bloc of hypocrisy over vote-chori

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday accused the opposition INDIA bloc of hypocrisy over its allegations of 'vote-chori' through the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative. Responding to the charges, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra pointed to the recent poll results in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, two states where electoral rolls were revised, and noted that the Congress party had no complaints about those outcomes as they went against the ruling party.

BJP's Counterattack

Patra stated, 'In reality, the existence of the INDIA bloc is being wiped out as people are no longer voting for its constituents.' He highlighted that some key members of the alliance, including Uddhav Thackeray, did not even bother to attend the alliance meeting in person on Monday, opting instead to join via videoconferencing. 'None of these political parties has any presence on the ground,' Patra added, dismissing the opposition's strength.

Shrinking Venue and Internal Rebellions

The BJP noted that the venue of INDIA bloc meetings has shrunk to a hall in the Constitution Club, while internal strife within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has become a major talking point. In Tamil Nadu, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is reportedly accusing the Congress of 'ally-chori'—stealing allies—after the Congress decided to abandon its old ally and join the government led by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Patra emphasized that the opposition's allegations of vote theft are baseless, and the real issue is the declining support for INDIA bloc parties across the country. He urged the public to see through the opposition's 'drama' and focus on the developmental agenda of the BJP-led government.
