A tragic incident occurred in Bhopal's Ratibad area on Thursday night, where a 64-year-old woman lost her life after a cow fell onto the tin roof of her hut, causing the structure to collapse. The deceased, identified as Geetabai, was sleeping inside her hut around 8 pm when the accident took place.
Incident Details
The hut was located in the Suraj Nagar slum near the Judicial Academy, an area where several hutments are built along a hillside slope. According to police reports, two cows were fighting on the upper side of the slope when one of them lost its balance and fell directly onto the roof of Geetabai's hut. The impact caused the tin shed to cave in, trapping the woman beneath the collapsed structure and the animal.
Rescue and Aftermath
Family members rushed to rescue Geetabai, pulling her out from under the debris. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Police stated that Geetabai lived in the hut with her son and daughter-in-law. Her husband had passed away several years ago, and her son worked at a hotel in the city.
A case has been registered regarding the incident. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.
