A man and a woman, both aged 24, sustained injuries after a BEST electric bus brushed them while they were crossing the road near Poisar depot in Kandivli West on Monday. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage went viral on social media. However, since the injured individuals did not wish to lodge a formal complaint, no First Information Report (FIR) was registered, police officials confirmed.
Accident Details
The victims, identified as Sonam Maurya and Adarsh Yadav, who are acquaintances, had alighted from an autorickshaw and were crossing the road near the Poisar depot when the bus, operating on route number A-277/38 from Borivli West station to Kandivli West station, brushed them near the divider. The bus was an electric vehicle operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking.
Injuries Sustained
According to police, Maurya hit her head as she fell and lost consciousness momentarily. She also sustained injuries to her legs. Yadav suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and right eye. Maurya was admitted to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli West. Police officials recorded Maurya’s statement at the hospital after she regained consciousness.
No Complaint Filed
Despite the severity of the incident, both victims expressed reluctance to file a formal complaint against the bus driver or the BEST undertaking. As a result, no FIR was registered, and the matter was closed from a legal standpoint. Police mentioned that they would continue to monitor the situation and take further action if needed.
