Bengaluru Police Beef Up Security for Bakrid, Warn Against Moral Policing

Bengaluru: With Bakrid celebrations on Thursday, police stepped up security across the city, especially in areas where sheep are sold for the festival. Cops issued a stern warning against moral policing and said action will be taken against anyone trying to disturb communal harmony.

Increased Police Deployment

Vendors at Matadahalli and RT Nagar reported that police deployment is noticeably higher compared to previous years. Apart from monitoring the crowd, the personnel are ensuring vendors do not encroach upon roads and obstruct vehicular movement.

Security in Sensitive Areas

Similar security arrangements have been made in Pulikeshinagar, Chamarajpet and other sensitive areas. Police held peace meetings with religious leaders and community representatives ahead of the festival.
