Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday remarked that Ayodhya had not seen air connectivity for ages, dating back to the era when Lord Rama traveled in the 'Pushpak Viman' during the 'Treta Yug'. He made the statement while inaugurating the newly constructed Maharshi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya.
Historic Airport Named After Sage Valmiki
The chief minister emphasized that the airport, named after Maharshi Valmiki, the revered author of the Hindu epic 'Ramayana', marks a significant milestone for the city. He noted that Ayodhya, which holds immense religious and cultural importance, had long awaited modern air connectivity.
Symbolic Connect to Ramayana Era
Adityanath drew a parallel between the mythological Pushpak Viman and the new airport, stating that after the era of Lord Rama's flying chariot, Ayodhya finally has a facility for air travel. He described the development as a step towards fulfilling the aspirations of devotees and boosting tourism in the region.
The airport is expected to serve as a gateway for pilgrims visiting the Ram Temple and other holy sites in Ayodhya. The chief minister also highlighted the government's efforts to enhance infrastructure in the city ahead of the upcoming festivals and events.
This development is part of a broader initiative to improve connectivity to religious destinations across Uttar Pradesh, aligning with the state's vision to promote spiritual tourism.
