In a heartening display of institutional responsibility and inter-agency coordination, the Indian Army and the Uttar Pradesh government have successfully restored the ancestral home of Anjana Bhatt, the daughter of deceased Territorial Army Major Bipin Chandra Bhatt. The property, located in Lucknow's Indiranagar area, had been illegally occupied for several years by individuals who allegedly forged documents to claim ownership.
Years of Illegal Occupation and Legal Battles
The distressing situation came to light when authorities discovered that the house had been targeted by anti-social elements following the tragic circumstances of Anjana's family. After losing her father in 1994 and subsequently her siblings, Anjana, who suffers from schizophrenia, was left without immediate family protection. Since 2016, she has been residing at the Nirvan Rehabilitation Centre, leaving her ancestral property vulnerable to encroachment.
Forged Documents and Criminal Charges
Investigations revealed that Balwant Kumar Yadav and Manoj Kumar Yadav had allegedly used forged documents to illegally transfer the property into their names. The latest development in this case occurred when authorities finally evicted these encroachers from the premises. Both individuals were arrested and face serious charges including cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy for their unlawful actions.
Army's Proactive Intervention as Moral Duty
Recognizing its moral responsibility toward families of its personnel, the Indian Army took proactive steps through the Madhya UP Sub Area command. Major Vishal Kanaujia was appointed as Anjana's foster guardian, undertaking comprehensive responsibility for her welfare and legal matters. He coordinated extensively with district administration officials, police authorities, and legal teams to ensure the property restoration process moved forward transparently and swiftly.
Sustained Coordination Between Army and State Authorities
The successful resolution required sustained efforts and strong liaison between Army representatives and Uttar Pradesh state authorities. Through determined coordination and legal perseverance, the house was finally vacated and officially handed back to Anjana on New Year's Day, marking a significant victory for justice and institutional accountability.
Meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
On Friday, following the successful restoration of her property, Anjana Bhatt had the opportunity to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She was accompanied by GOC Major General Maneesh Kukrety, FWO chairperson Sangeeta Kukrety, and her foster guardian Major Vishal Kanaujia. During the meeting, Anjana personally thanked the Chief Minister for the state government's prompt and decisive support in resolving her long-standing property dispute.
This case highlights the importance of institutional mechanisms protecting vulnerable citizens, particularly those connected to defense personnel who have served the nation. The collaborative effort between the Indian Army and Uttar Pradesh government sets a significant precedent for addressing similar property disputes involving families of armed forces personnel across the country.
