Akhilesh Yadav to Outline 2027 Strategy for SP MPs in Crucial Lucknow Meeting

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav will convene a special meeting in Lucknow on Tuesday. He plans to assign specific tasks to all party MPs for the upcoming 2027 assembly elections. The leadership will also deliver a reality check to members who remain overly confident after defeating the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing Overconfidence Among Party MPs

Party strategists express concern about some functionaries. These individuals believe that since they defeated the BJP in 2024, the 2027 assembly polls will be an easy victory in their segments. This approach could seriously damage the party's prospects. The leadership emphasizes that the SP faces a BJP which operates in permanent election mode throughout the year.

Sources indicate Akhilesh Yadav is aware of specific instances involving certain MPs. These cases exhibit extreme overconfidence, sometimes bordering on political arrogance. Senior functionaries and the party cadre have not welcomed such displays. They argue this behavior must be checked immediately to avoid counterproductive effects during the election season.

Task Assignment and Ground Reporting

The Samajwadi Party currently holds 41 MPs. This includes 37 in the Lok Sabha, including Akhilesh Yadav himself, and four in the Rajya Sabha. All 41 members are expected to attend the noon meeting at the SP headquarters in Lucknow.

Although the formal agenda remains unpublished, senior functionaries recently revealed preliminary tasks. Akhilesh Yadav had already asked MPs to survey their parliamentary constituencies thoroughly. They must shortlist potential candidates from their assembly segments and identify the top ten issues resonating with grassroots voters.

At Tuesday's meeting, these MPs will submit detailed reports with their feedback. The SP chief is likely to assign further, concrete roles for the 2027 campaign based on this input. He will also seek suggestions from MPs on issues that the party's 2027 manifesto should address at the constituency level.

Reflecting on the 2024 Victory

The party leadership holds a strong belief. The tally of 37 Lok Sabha MPs achieved in 2024 resulted from a combination of several factors. All these factors must be addressed again, exhaustively, to achieve desired results in the 2027 assembly polls. Simply resting on past laurels is not an option.

Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP on Law and Order

In a related development on Monday, Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP government's claims. He cited several incidents including a daring dacoity in Sitapur, a murder at Gandhi Ashram in Ambedkar Nagar, and a gruesome family murder in Etah.

"These incidents show that the BJP government's claims of zero tolerance towards crime and criminals has proven to be a big zero in itself," Yadav stated.

He argued the problem extends beyond crime. Corruption is rampant at every level like never before, according to Yadav, because BJP members themselves are involved in corrupt practices and shield criminals. He provided examples including issues with the Jal Jeevan Mission, crumbling water tanks, a Rs 43 crore scam in Chitrakoot district treasury, and a Rs 21 crore scam at the UP Cooperative Bank in Gonda.

"While these instances are limited to districts, codeine syrup drug syndicate spreads nationwide and beyond," Akhilesh Yadav added, broadening his critique.
