AAP MP Sanjay Singh Denies Receiving Police Notice in Varanasi

Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh made a strong statement on Monday. He firmly denied receiving any notice from the Varanasi police to appear before them. Singh declared that if district administration and police officials fail to file an FIR against persons responsible for demolishing Queen Ahilyabai Holkar's idols at Manikarnika Ghat, he will lodge a case against those officials himself.

Police Notice Claims Questioned

Speaking to TOI, Sanjay Singh revealed interesting details about his situation. "I have been moving around Varanasi for the past 24 hours after police booked me in a case," Singh explained. "Today, my party cadres informed me that the Commissioner of Police claims they issued a notice for me to appear and record my statement."

The AAP leader pointed out a significant contradiction. "It is interesting that police know I am present here, but no notice has actually reached me," Singh stated. He suggested this indicates more political agenda than genuine legal intention behind the police actions.

Idol Damage Controversy Deepens

Singh addressed the core issue of damaged structures at Manikarnika Ghat. "The government itself clarified the truth by claiming they protected and preserved the structure and idol of Queen Ahilyabai," he noted. The MP questioned this official position sharply. "If they were not damaged, why did authorities feel the need to protect them?"

The parliamentarian emphasized clear legal consequences should follow. "If idols and structures are broken, those responsible must face punishment," Singh asserted. He insisted administration officials should file an FIR against persons who broke the ghat and structures containing idols.

Political Context of Varanasi Visit

Sanjay Singh visited Varanasi for a specific political purpose. He participated in Aam Aadmi Party's "Give Employment - Give Social Justice" foot march. This statewide campaign protests against unemployment and social injustice issues affecting citizens.

The MP's statements come amid growing tensions between opposition parties and authorities in Uttar Pradesh. His direct challenge to police and administration officials reflects broader political confrontations developing in the region.
