AAP MP Demands PM Modi's Intervention in Atishi Video Row
AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He demands immediate intervention in a growing political controversy. The issue involves contradictory forensic reports on a controversial video clip of former Delhi chief minister Atishi.
Contradictory Forensic Findings Fuel Political Tension
The BJP government in Delhi and the AAP government in Punjab have produced opposing forensic reports. On Saturday, Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta cited a fresh forensic report. He stated there was no tampering with the audio-video recordings of the house.
This directly contrasts with an earlier Punjab FSL report. That report called the video clip doctored and edited. An FIR in this matter was registered by the Jalandhar police commissionerate.
Kang Calls Video Circulation "Blasphemy by Design"
In his letter, Kang strongly reframes the incident. He says the video was not a simple political misjudgement. Instead, he labels it a blasphemy by design. Kang accuses BJP leader Kapil Mishra of knowingly propagating falsehood.
He claims Mishra's apparent objective was to provoke outrage. The goal, according to Kang, was to harvest political gains by weaponising Sikh religious sentiment.
Demand for Stern Action Against Kapil Mishra
Kang explicitly states his expectations from the Prime Minister. He demands the sternest possible action against Kapil Mishra. This includes Mishra's removal from all positions of authority.
Kang also calls for a clear, public denunciation of Mishra's actions. He argues such decisive action will not weaken leadership. On the contrary, it will strengthen it. It would send an unambiguous message about the non-negotiable sanctity of the Gurus.
Kang Cites Scientific Certainty in His Letter
The AAP MP makes a definitive claim in his communication to the PM. He states forensic science laboratory reports from both Punjab and Delhi conclusively established a fact. A doctored and fabricated video was deliberately circulated.
This was done to falsely accuse Atishi of making derogatory references to Sikh Gurus. Kang asserts the scientific findings leave no room for ambiguity. No such words were ever spoken by her, he insists.
Appealing to PM Modi's Demonstrated Respect for Sikh Faith
Kang's letter includes strategic praise for the Prime Minister. He acknowledges Modi as a person who understands the spiritual debt this nation owes to the Gurus. Kang notes the PM has publicly expressed personal faith and reverence on numerous occasions.
He highlights a specific action under Modi's leadership. The government ensured the safe return and protection of the sacred Shri Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan. Kang says this act was deeply respected by Sikhs across the world.
These actions, he writes, affirmed Modi's commitment not merely as a statesman. They showed him as someone who understands the spiritual significance.
Timing Coincides with Solemn Sikh Commemoration
Kang notes the painful timing of these developments. They occur as the Sikh community solemnly commemorates the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Guru sacrificed his life to protect Dharma and religious freedom.
Against this backdrop, Kang argues such acts amount to a moral transgression of the highest order. To invoke the sanctity of the Gurus through lies for political mileage is an unforgivable violation of their legacy. This, he says, is the reason the current developments cause profound anguish.
