12 Years of Modi Government Mark India’s Reawakening, Says Haryana CM
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday described the 12-year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government as a transformative phase in India's history, characterized by growing self-confidence, self-reliance, and an enhanced global stature. Speaking in Chandigarh, Saini highlighted the significant achievements of the central government over the past decade.
From 'Land of Potential' to 'Land of Achievements'
Addressing the accomplishments of the Centre, Saini remarked, “There was a time when India was called a 'land of potential.' Today, India stands before the world as a 'land of achievements.' Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has reawakened its cultural consciousness, with the PM conveying that modernity and tradition are not adversaries.” This shift reflects a broader transformation in the nation’s outlook and global perception.
Economic Progress and Reforms
Highlighting economic progress, Saini noted that India, which was the world's 11th-largest economy in 2014, is now steadily moving towards becoming the fourth-largest economy. He credited key reforms for accelerating growth, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, and the Ease of Doing Business initiatives. These measures have streamlined taxation, boosted manufacturing, and improved the business environment.
Digital Revolution as a Major Achievement
Saini called the digital transformation one of the government's biggest achievements. “Among the greatest achievements of these 12 years, if one transformation deserves to be especially highlighted, it is India's digital revolution,” he said, citing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system and over 53 crore Jan Dhan accounts as examples. This digital push has enhanced financial inclusion and transparency in welfare delivery.
Welfare of the Poor
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Modi government's most significant accomplishment was its focus on the welfare of the poor. “Giving practical expression to Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya's philosophy of 'Antyodaya' — uplifting the last person in the line — has been the government's motto,” he stated. This approach has guided numerous welfare schemes aimed at the most marginalized sections of society.
Handling the Covid-19 Pandemic
Referring to the Covid-19 pandemic, Saini remarked, “During Covid times, India faced daunting circumstances but under the leadership of PM, the country turned adversity into opportunity.” He praised the government's response in managing the crisis and leveraging the situation to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and self-reliance.
Growing Global Influence
He also stressed India's growing influence on the world stage. “On the world stage too, India's role today is far more influential and decisive than ever before,” Saini said. This enhanced global stature reflects India's assertive foreign policy and strategic partnerships under Modi's leadership.
