Newly-Wed Woman's Body Found at Parents' Doorstep in Saran Village

In a shocking incident, the body of a newly-wed woman was allegedly dumped by her in-laws at her parents' doorstep in Chidiya Bazar Koiri Patti village. This village falls under the Hariharnath police station area of Saran district. The grim discovery happened on Friday morning.

Dowry Demands Preceded the Tragic Death

The victim has been identified as Sarita Prakash. She was 28 years old and the daughter of Jai Prakash Mahato. Sarita married Satendra Kumar on May 9, 2025. Satendra is a resident of the Kartaha area in Vaishali district.

Just months after the wedding, Sarita reportedly faced persistent dowry demands from her husband and in-laws. Her father, Jai Prakash Mahato, spoke to her on Thursday evening. However, when he woke up on Friday morning, he found her body lying in front of his house.

Father's Complaint Details Harrowing Demands

In his police complaint, Mahato made serious allegations. He stated that his son-in-law, Satendra Kumar, had demanded Rs 8 lakh. Mahato somehow arranged this amount and paid it about ten days ago.

Despite this payment, Satendra allegedly called again. This time, he pressed for an additional Rs 5 lakh. Mahato refused to pay this further demand.

Police Investigation Points to Strangulation and Dowry Motive

Upon receiving information, Hariharnath Station House Officer Vimalesh Kumar Singh reached the spot with his team. They immediately began investigations.

"Preliminary investigations indicate death by strangulation," said SHO Singh. "We have registered a case of dowry harassment. It has come to light that the victim's husband had been demanding money from Jai Prakash Mahato, which he could not pay. We suspect they killed the woman for this reason."

Accused Absconding; CCTV Footage Provides Crucial Clues

The SHO provided an update on Saturday. He confirmed that no arrests have been made so far because all the accused are absconding.

"Our team went to Satendra's house in the Kartaha police station area of Vaishali district, but no one was found there," Singh told this newspaper.

CCTV footage from the area has become a key piece of evidence. The footage shows a black SUV stopping outside the victim's maternal home. A man is seen getting out of the vehicle. He drags out a body and leaves it on the road before driving away.

Police Suspect Crime Occurred in Vaishali

SHO Singh added a crucial detail about the investigation's direction. "We suspect the crime may have occurred in Vaishali. The body was later dumped at Mahato's doorstep in Saran," he stated.

The police are actively pursuing the vehicle seen in the CCTV footage. "We will soon seize the vehicle, which was reportedly hired by the accused," Singh assured.

The case continues to develop as authorities work to locate the absconding suspects and gather more evidence.
