Woman, toddler injured in Gwalior domestic violence attack

A horrific incident of domestic violence has shaken Gwalior, where a young mother and her toddler daughter were thrown from the roof of a house by her drunk husband. The attack occurred in Raipur Kala village on November 26, leaving both victims with serious injuries.

The Brutal Attack in Raipur Kala Village

The victim, identified as Aarti (23), had been living with her parents for the past five months to escape repeated abuse from her husband, Shyam. According to reports, Shyam had a history of assaulting his wife while under the influence of alcohol.

On the day of the incident, Shyam was drinking on a neighbor's terrace and began verbally abusing Aarti and her family. When Aarti attempted to intervene and calm him down, the situation turned violently physical.

Shyam dragged Aarti by her neck before picking up both her and their two-year-old daughter. In a drunken rage, he hurled them off the first-floor roof. The mother and child fell onto a pile of stones below, sustaining significant injuries.

Immediate Aftermath and Legal Action

Both Aarti and her young daughter were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. They received care for the injuries sustained in the fall.

Following her discharge from the hospital, Aarti filed a formal police complaint against her husband, detailing the years of abuse and the terrifying final attack. Acting on her complaint, the police promptly arrested Shyam.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the full circumstances of the case is ongoing. The incident has highlighted the severe dangers of domestic violence and substance abuse within households.

A Pattern of Abuse and a Cry for Help

This was not an isolated outburst. Aarti's move back to her parental home five months prior was a direct result of enduring sustained abuse. The November 26 attack underscores the critical need for effective intervention and support systems for victims of domestic violence.

The case serves as a grim reminder of the extreme risks women and children can face within abusive family environments. It raises urgent questions about community awareness, preventive measures, and legal protection for vulnerable individuals.
