Woman Critically Injured in Stabbing by Live-in Partner in Nellore District

A 41-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after being stabbed by her live-in partner during a violent altercation at VNR Peta village in Bogole mandal of Nellore district on Wednesday night. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence in the region.

Details of the Accused and Background

The accused has been identified as Gunji Venkata Sesharao, a 38-year-old loco pilot working at Bitragunta. According to police reports, Sesharao had been living with the victim in the village since June last year. However, investigations revealed that he is legally married to another woman and has two children from that marriage.

Police stated that Sesharao was staying separately from his legal wife due to marital disputes but continued to visit her regularly to see his children. This arrangement reportedly led to frequent arguments between Sesharao and the victim, creating a tense domestic environment that ultimately culminated in violence.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Attack

On Wednesday evening, after returning from his duty as a loco pilot, Sesharao and the victim engaged in another heated argument. During this confrontation, in what police describe as a fit of rage, Sesharao picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the woman multiple times.

The attack targeted critical areas of her body, including her neck and other vital parts, leaving her with severe injuries that required immediate medical attention.

Medical Response and Current Condition

The injured woman was initially rushed to the government hospital at Kavali for emergency treatment. As her condition worsened, she was subsequently shifted to Narayana hospital in Nellore for more specialized care.

Medical authorities at Narayana hospital have reported that the woman's condition has now stabilized following treatment. Doctors confirmed that she is currently conscious and receiving ongoing medical care, though she remains under observation due to the severity of her injuries.

Legal Action and Police Investigation

Bitragunta police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused, Gunji Venkata Sesharao, has been taken into police custody and is currently facing legal proceedings.

The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining the circumstances that led to the violent incident and gathering evidence for the judicial process.

This case has drawn attention to the complex dynamics of domestic relationships and the potential for violence when disputes escalate. Local authorities have emphasized the importance of addressing domestic conflicts through proper channels and seeking help before situations turn violent.
