Woman, Son Booked for Tampering School Certificate for Juvenile Status

Ahmedabad: Ramol police have registered a case against a woman and her son for allegedly tampering with a school leaving certificate to falsely portray the son as a juvenile in an attempt to murder case. The FIR was filed after discrepancies were detected in documents submitted by the family during the investigation.

Discovery of Tampered Document

According to the complaint filed by Ramol police inspector M R Chaudhary, the accused was traced to his residence in Ramrajyanagar, Ramol, and detained on Sunday. During questioning, the boy claimed he was born on July 10, 2007. His mother produced his Aadhaar card with the same date of birth, leading police to treat him as an adult and formally arrest him.

Later that day, the woman approached the police station with a school leaving certificate from Amraiwadi Hindi School No. 1, asserting that her son was a minor. The certificate listed his date of birth as July 10, 2008, which would have qualified him as a juvenile. However, police noticed apparent alterations in the date of birth column and sought verification from the school.

School Confirms Tampering

The school principal examined records and informed police that the original documents showed the boy's date of birth as July 10, 2007. The principal stated that the duplicate school leaving certificate had allegedly been tampered with after issuance. The school provided copies of relevant records and an affidavit submitted by the woman when obtaining the duplicate certificate.

Investigators allege that the woman and her son conspired to alter the document to mislead police and influence proceedings in the attempt to murder case. Further investigation is underway.
