Woman shoots self with licensed revolver in Chikkamagaluru

CHIKKAMAGALURU: A 55-year-old woman was discovered dead at her home in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday after she shot herself with a licensed revolver that she owned, according to police.

The deceased, identified as Suma, was a homemaker residing in Halenahalli Layout in the town. The incident occurred when she was alone at home, as her husband, a businessman, was in Bengaluru for work at the time of the tragedy.

Police recovered a suicide note from the house, which is currently being examined as part of the investigation. Authorities noted that the note did not attribute any responsibility for her death to any individual.

Preliminary findings indicate that Suma had been undergoing treatment for depression for the past two years and had been dealing with the condition for approximately five years. However, officials stated that the exact circumstances leading to her death have yet to be established.

The woman is survived by her husband and two children. Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the Basavanahalli police have registered a case of unnatural death. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
