Woman, Lover Held for Murder of 6-Year-Old in Meerut

In a shocking incident in Meerut, a woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly strangling her six-year-old son, whom they viewed as a hindrance to their relationship, police confirmed on Saturday.

Missing Person Complaint Filed

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar, on June 16, Gurpreet Kaur lodged a missing person complaint for her son, accusing Arpit Sharma, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, of taking the child away in a car. A case was registered at Bahsuma Police Station the same day, prompting a manhunt for Sharma.

Confession and Recovery

Sharma was later taken into custody. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to being in an affair with Gurpreet Kaur and admitted that the child was an obstacle to their relationship. He further disclosed that he had strangled the boy and dumped the body in the forests of Hastinapur. Acting on his statement, police recovered the remains and sent them for post-mortem examination.

Woman's Arrest

The SP noted that further investigation and evidence pointed to Gurpreet Kaur's involvement in the crime. Consequently, she was arrested on Friday. Sharma has been sent to jail after being produced before the court, while Gurpreet Kaur will be produced for remand proceedings.
