A 21-year-old woman was discovered dead inside her residence in the Gazipur area of east Delhi on Thursday, prompting a police investigation. The incident occurred just seven months after her marriage.
Details of the Incident
According to police officials, a PCR call was received at approximately 3:00 pm on Thursday, reporting that a woman was found lying dead inside a house in Gopal Gali of Gazipur village. A police team immediately rushed to the scene and began an inquiry.
The body of the deceased was found on a sofa on the fourth floor of the house. Authorities have retrieved the body and stated that the exact cause of death will be determined once the postmortem report is received.
Family Members Under Scrutiny
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had married Tarun, aged 26, in October 2025. At the time of the incident, Tarun's younger brother, Sumit, aged 23, who is the deceased's brother-in-law, was also present in the house.
Given that the death occurred within a few months of marriage, an Executive Magistrate visited the scene and initiated proceedings as per legal provisions. Police are examining all aspects of the case and recording statements from family members and other individuals connected to the incident.
