Woman Found Dead in Ara Home, Police Investigate Suicide Case
A tragic incident unfolded in the Anand Nagar locality of Ara town, Bihar, where a 35-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in the early hours of Tuesday. The body of the deceased, identified as Sangita Devi, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom, sending shockwaves through the community.
Police Statement and Initial Findings
Devraj Rai, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Ara Town police station, addressed the media on Tuesday, stating that prima facie evidence points to domestic strife as the reason behind the alleged suicide. This conclusion was based on statements from the deceased woman's brother. The body has been sent to the Ara Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence.
Background of the Deceased
Sangita Devi, wife of Sonu Kumar, had a complex personal history. Her first husband, Mukesh Kumar, allegedly a drug addict, died in 2015 after falling from a rooftop. Following this tragedy, Sangita began working at a shopping mall in Ara, where she met Sonu Kumar. Their relationship blossomed into a love marriage in 2018, marking a new chapter in her life.
Brother's Account of Marital Issues
Ratnesh Kumar, Sangita's brother and a resident of Fatehpur Dhibra under the Parsa police station in Patna district, provided detailed insights into the events leading up to the suicide. He explained that while the marriage initially seemed harmonious, bitterness crept into the relationship several months ago following a theft of Rs 11,000 from their home. Both Sangita and Sonu accused each other of stealing the money, leading to frequent quarrels.
"Everything in their marriage was going on well. However, bitterness seeped in their relationship a few months ago when there was a theft of Rs 11,000 from their home. Both the spouses accused each other of stealing the money. They often quarreled over this issue but of late, the quarrel seemed to have subsided," Ratnesh stated.
He added that on Tuesday morning, he received a distressing call from Sonu Kumar, informing him that Sangita had hung herself from the ceiling fan. This revelation has left the family in deep mourning and raised questions about the underlying tensions in the household.
Family Details and Aftermath
Sangita Devi had two sons from her first marriage with Mukesh Kumar but had no children from her second marriage with Sonu Kumar. The loss has left her children and extended family grappling with grief, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. The case highlights ongoing issues of domestic conflict and mental health in the region, urging a closer look at support systems for vulnerable individuals.
Note: This report is based on police statements and family accounts, with further details pending the post-mortem results. The community awaits justice and clarity in this heartbreaking incident.
