Woman Detained After Confessing to Murder of Eight-Year-Old Boy in Nalanda

Police in Nalanda district detained a woman on Wednesday. She stands accused of killing an eight-year-old boy. The crime appears linked to an illicit affair she had with the child's father.

Family Alleges Threats and Blackmail

The boy's family made serious allegations. They stated the woman threatened them roughly ten days before the incident. She accused them of circulating her private photos and videos on social media platforms.

The family also claimed she was blackmailing the boy's father, Niranjan Kumar. They said she demanded money from him.

Tragic Discovery of the Deceased Child

The victim was identified as Ankit Kumar, son of Niranjan Kumar, aged 35. Ankit went missing on the evening of January 12. He had left his home to play in Darriya Bigha village, which falls under Chandi police station jurisdiction.

Villagers made a grim discovery the next morning. They found Ankit's body with a rope tied around his neck.

Public Outrage and Highway Blockade

Enraged family members and local villagers staged a strong protest. They blocked the Karauta-Rajgir Highway, also known as NH-78. Their demand was clear and urgent: the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing.

Police Investigation and Official Statements

Hilsa DSP Shailja provided details on the case. "The deceased's family filed a missing person complaint at Chandi police station on January 12 evening," Shailja stated. "After the body was recovered, they alleged the woman's involvement in the murder. This allegation was based on threats she and others made to the family about ten days prior. We have detained the woman for questioning."

Background of the Father and the Affair

Police revealed background information about Niranjan Kumar. He married about ten years ago. His son Ankit was born several years after the marriage. Niranjan originally worked in Nalanda but moved to Patna after his son's birth. In Patna, he started driving an auto-rickshaw for a living.

Niranjan lived alone in a rented house in Patna. He visited his wife and son in Nalanda every two to three months.

During his time in Patna, Niranjan befriended the accused woman. Their relationship developed through social media chats and phone calls. They eventually met in person. During their first meeting, they expressed feelings of love for each other.

Niranjan disclosed his marital status and that he had a son. The woman reportedly said she had no objection to this. She then began visiting his rented house frequently. The woman is a native of Barh in Patna district.

Escalating Conflict and Panchayat Intervention

DSP Shailja described a confrontation that occurred about ten days before the murder. "The woman arrived at Niranjan's house with some people," Shailja said. "A quarrel erupted between the two groups. The woman accused Niranjan of circulating private photos and videos on social media. Conversely, Niranjan's family alleged she was extorting money through blackmail."

A panchayat meeting was convened to resolve the dispute between the parties.

Confession and Ongoing Investigation

The SDPO confirmed a significant development. The accused woman has confessed to the killing. However, police interrogation continues. Authorities are working to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the crime.

Further details about the case are expected. Police officials plan to share additional information with the media on Thursday.
