A horrific incident of violence stemming from allegations of witchcraft has resulted in the death of a woman and left four others injured in Bihar's Nawada district. The tragic event occurred on Thursday in the area under the jurisdiction of the Rajauli police station.
Fatal Altercation Over Superstition
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Kiran Devi. According to police reports, a violent clash erupted between two families from the same locality. The confrontation was triggered by accusations from one family that a member of the other family was practicing witchcraft, which they blamed for misfortunes.
The argument quickly turned physical, leading to a brutal assault. Kiran Devi sustained severe injuries during the beating and succumbed to them. Her husband, Naresh Choudhary, was also among those injured in the melee.
Police Response and Investigation
Rajauli Station House Officer (SHO) Ranjit Kumar provided details of the police action. "Kiran died due to injuries sustained during the altercation," stated SHO Kumar. He confirmed that the police have taken swift action in the case.
Three individuals from the rival group have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the violence. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal clash.
