Samastipur Woman Files Multiple Police Complaints Against Former Schoolfriend
A 22-year-old woman from Samastipur district in Bihar has filed serious complaints at multiple police stations, accusing her former schoolfriend of drugging her, sexually assaulting her at a hotel, and subsequently blackmailing her with a recorded video. The distressing case came to light after she submitted formal applications at the local police station, the women's police station, and the cyber police station on Friday.
Allegations of Drugging and Sexual Assault at Hotel
In her detailed complaint, the woman stated that she first met the accused, identified as Aman Kumar (23), when they were both in Class VIII back in 2015 in Kalyanpur. What began as a school friendship gradually evolved into a relationship. She alleged that even after she completed her schooling and enrolled in a local college to pursue a BSc degree in 2020, Kumar persistently stalked her.
The situation took a terrifying turn on January 22, when the woman was invited to a hotel for what was presented as a birthday celebration. According to her account, she was offered a cold drink that she believes was laced with an intoxicant. After consuming the beverage, she lost consciousness and later woke up to find herself naked, with the accused beside her. She claims he explicitly told her he had "done what he wanted" and had recorded a video of the incident.
Blackmail and Online Harassment Escalate
The woman further alleged that Kumar used the recorded video to blackmail her, threatening to make it public if she did not comply with his demands. The harassment intensified when he discovered that her family had arranged her marriage, scheduled for February 8 in Begusarai. In a calculated move to disrupt her life, he allegedly made the videos and photos viral on his social media accounts. Shockingly, he also sent the explicit video directly to her would-be groom and his family, causing immense distress and humiliation.
Faced with this online abuse and public shaming, the victim initially approached the local police station. However, her application was reportedly not accepted at that time. Determined to seek justice, she then turned to the women's police station and subsequently the cyber police station, recognizing that the case involved significant elements of cyber crime and digital harassment.
Police Investigation Underway
Samastipur ASP Sanjay Pandey confirmed that the woman has submitted formal applications at both the women's and cyber police stations. "Her statement is being recorded meticulously. The case appears to be rooted in a past romantic relationship, but she has now leveled several serious allegations against the man. A dedicated police team is actively investigating the entire matter to uncover the truth," Pandey stated.
The police have acknowledged that while the case seems connected to a previous love affair, the fresh allegations of drugging, sexual assault, and cyber blackmail are being treated with utmost seriousness. The investigation aims to verify the claims, gather evidence, and ensure appropriate legal action is taken against the accused if the allegations are substantiated.
This case highlights the alarming intersection of physical crime and digital abuse, where perpetrators use technology to amplify trauma and control victims. It also underscores the challenges victims face in navigating multiple police jurisdictions when crimes span both physical and cyber domains.
