Vasco Police Thwart Bank Burglary in Dramatic Early Morning Intervention

Suspect Caught Red-Handed During Break-In Attempt
The police have arrested Rayappa Shiraganvi, 50, a resident of Varunapuri and native of Belagavi, who was caught in the act of attempting to steal from the bank. According to official reports, Shiraganvi entered the Bank of India premises by cutting through the window grille at approximately 12:33 AM on Monday.
Police officers on routine patrol duty noticed the damaged window grille, which immediately raised their suspicions. Upon closer inspection and peering into the bank, they discovered Shiraganvi inside, actively engaged in the burglary attempt. He was apprehended on the spot without incident.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation Underway
Following his arrest, Shiraganvi has been remanded to two days of police custody for further interrogation and investigation. He has been charged under Section 62 and Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to house-breaking by night and theft, respectively.
The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Plato Carvalho, who is leading the inquiry to determine if there were any accomplices or if this was part of a larger criminal operation.
