A horrific incident in Manjeshwar, Kasaragod, has left a family shattered as a 50-year-old man died on Tuesday after being critically injured while trying to stop a brutal attack. The deceased, identified as Shekunhi, was the uncle of an 18-year-old girl, Jumaila, who was hacked to death by her own father, Ummer Farooq, on Monday evening.

The tragic events unfolded at Shekunhi's house in Thuminad, where Farooq had been asked by his wife, Thahira, to come and discuss their divorce. Jumaila was also present at the house during this time. After the discussion, Thahira handed over her gold ornaments to Farooq and formally requested a divorce. However, in a sudden and violent turn, Farooq stabbed his daughter Jumaila in the neck with a knife.
When Shekunhi bravely attempted to intervene and stop the attack on his niece, Farooq turned on him as well, inflicting multiple stab injuries on Shekunhi's thigh. Both victims were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru for emergency treatment.
