Police in Ullal made a significant arrest on Friday, targeting drug peddling activities in the area. They apprehended a man allegedly involved in selling narcotics, with a focus on MDMA.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
Acting on credible information, a team from the Ullal police station conducted a raid. The operation took place at a public location near Ranipur Ground in Munnur village, which falls under Ullal taluk.
Suspect and Recovery
The arrested individual is Imtiyaz, also known as Mohammed Imtiyaz. He is 40 years old and resides in Sajipa Munnur, Nandavara, within Bantwal taluk.
Police accused him of procuring MDMA and selling it at high prices to his customers. His clientele reportedly included college students, raising concerns about drug use among youth.
Upon his arrest, authorities recovered several items from his possession. The seizure included 13 grams of MDMA, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 65,000. Additionally, police found Rs 2,000 in cash, one mobile phone, a weighing scale, and other related materials.
Legal Action Taken
A formal case has been registered against the accused under specific sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The charges fall under Sections 8(c) and 22(a), 22(b), and 22(c), which pertain to the possession and sale of banned substances.
