Ujjain Motorcycle Accident Dispute Turns Violent with Police Attack

A minor traffic incident in Ujjain escalated into a serious confrontation on Friday, resulting in a stone-pelting attack on police personnel that left four officials injured. The disturbance originated from a collision between two motorcycles near Gogapur, approximately 75 kilometers from the district headquarters.

Sequence of Events Leading to Violence

The trouble began at noon when the motorcycles were involved in an accident. A dispute quickly erupted between the riders, drawing members of the Banjara community to the scene. Authorities dispatched a Dial 112 team to disperse both parties, temporarily calming the situation.

However, tensions flared again when a group from one side reassembled outside Porwal Dharmashala, located near the Mahidpur Road police station. They began creating a disturbance, prompting police intervention.

Police Personnel Injured in Stone-Pelting Incident

When TI Ramsingh Bhabor, ASI Sureshchandra Songara, head constable Samrthlal, and constable Madan Paggi arrived to disperse the crowd, they were met with a barrage of stones. Bhabor sustained injuries to his head and near the eye, while the other three officials suffered wounds on their backs and hands.

Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma provided details on the incident, stating, "Some people were brought to the police station after the accident. Their supporters gathered outside the police station and pelted stones. A case has been registered."

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigations

Based on a complaint filed by constable Madan, cases have been registered for rioting and obstructing government duty. The accused individuals include:

  • Hakam Banjara
  • Vakeel Banjara
  • Geetabai Banjara
  • Others involved in the incident

Authorities have taken some of the accused into custody, while a search operation is underway to apprehend the remaining individuals. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable.
