Ugandan Woman Nabbed with Massive Drug Haul Near Bengaluru

The City Crime Branch police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against narcotics. They arrested a Ugandan national accused of supplying drugs to peddlers operating in Mangaluru. The arrest took place near Jigani in Bengaluru, where authorities seized a substantial quantity of MDMA.

Massive Seizure Worth Crores

Police confiscated 4 kilograms of MDMA during the operation. Officials estimate the street value of this drug haul at approximately Rs 4 crore. This seizure represents one of the larger drug busts in the region recently.

City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH provided details about the arrest on Monday. He identified the arrested woman as Jalia Zalwango from Uganda. According to the commissioner, she was allegedly supplying drugs to peddlers in Mangaluru in an organised manner.

Legal Proceedings Begin

Authorities produced Jalia before a court following her arrest. The court remanded her in judicial custody. Commissioner Reddy indicated that police will seek her custody for further investigation. This suggests authorities believe she may have valuable information about broader drug networks.

Investigation Origins

The arrest resulted from inputs obtained during earlier drug-related cases. In December, Mulki and Surathkal police had arrested several peddlers and seized MDMA from them. Based on information gathered during interrogation of these individuals, police were able to track down and arrest the Ugandan national.

Mulki police had previously arrested four individuals: Mohammed Shiyab (22), Mohammed Naushad (29), Imran (27), and Nissar Ahmmed (36). From them, authorities seized 524 grams of MDMA. Similarly, Surathkal police arrested Mohammed Iqbal (30) and Shehraj Sharuk (25), confiscating 200 grams of MDMA from these suspects.

These earlier arrests provided crucial leads that eventually led investigators to Jalia Zalwango. The connection between the smaller peddlers and the larger supplier highlights how police are working to dismantle entire drug distribution chains rather than just catching street-level dealers.

The operation demonstrates increased coordination between different police units in tackling drug trafficking. By following leads from smaller cases, authorities managed to reach a significant supplier. This approach aims to disrupt the flow of narcotics at multiple levels within distribution networks.
