The victims, identified as Shalini and her husband Thiagu, 42, were returning to their home in Govindarajapuram near Vellinagar, Guduvanchery. They had been visiting the Siruvapuri Murugan Temple for Tamil New Year celebrations. The accident took place along the Vandalur Bypass Road near the tollgate in Avadi.
The sequence of events unfolded rapidly: The car's rear tyre burst suddenly, leading the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car then veered off the road and crashed into a truck that was parked on the side. The impact was severe, resulting in immediate consequences.
