Two Property Dealers Shot Dead in Sasaram Village Over Land Dispute

In a shocking incident that has sent waves of panic and tension through the locality, two property dealers were brutally shot dead in Dumariya village under the Sasaram Muffasil police station area of Rohtas district on Sunday evening. The double murder, which occurred in broad daylight, has left the community in a state of fear and unrest.

Victims Identified as Rupesh Singh and Vinay Kumar Prajapati

The deceased have been identified as Rupesh Singh alias Mantu (35), son of Jaleshwar Singh and a resident of Uchaila village under the Amjhor police station area, and Vinay Kumar Prajapati, a native of Tilouthu village under the same police station. Vinay Kumar Prajapati was a former block development councillor (BDC) member and also owned a medical store. Both individuals were jointly engaged in the property dealing business, making their deaths a significant blow to the local real estate sector.

Murder Linked to Ongoing Land Dispute

According to preliminary information gathered from family members and local sources, the double murder is directly linked to an ongoing and contentious land dispute. A panchayat meeting was reportedly convened on Sunday to discuss a disputed piece of land, and it was during this gathering that the assailants allegedly opened fire on both victims. Sources claim that several rounds were fired, with both men sustaining more than 10 bullet injuries each, leading to their immediate death on the spot.

Alternative Account of the Incident

Another account of the events suggests a more sinister plot. It is alleged that both victims were called to the village by a local strongman under the pretext of resolving the dispute. After they arrived in a vehicle, they were ambushed and shot dead. Rupesh Singh's brother, Chintu Kumar, has publicly accused Pappu Singh of orchestrating the killings. Family members have further alleged the involvement of a notorious criminal in the execution of this heinous act, adding layers of complexity to the investigation.

Police Response and Investigation

Upon receiving information about the incident, Rohtas Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar rushed to the site to oversee the initial response. The police promptly sent the bodies to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for postmortem examination. In response to the heightened tensions, security has been significantly beefed up in the area to prevent any further violence or retaliation.

The concerned police station has initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. SP Roshan Kumar stated that all aspects of the case are being meticulously examined, and the accused individuals have already been identified. "Raids are currently underway to arrest the accused," the SP confirmed, emphasizing the urgency and seriousness with which the authorities are handling this case.

Community Impact and Ongoing Concerns

The brutal nature of this crime has not only resulted in the loss of two lives but has also instilled a deep sense of insecurity among residents. Land disputes, often a source of conflict in rural areas, have once again turned deadly, highlighting the need for more effective dispute resolution mechanisms and stronger law enforcement presence. As the investigation progresses, the community awaits justice and hopes for a swift resolution to prevent such tragedies in the future.
