Two More Suspects Arrested in Chennai Hospital Murder Case

Chennai police made two additional arrests on Wednesday in connection with the brutal murder of history-sheeter Adhi Kesavan. The incident occurred at Kilpauk Medical College hospital earlier this week.

Details of the Latest Arrests

Police took Dinesh, aged 27, and Keerthivasan, aged 35, into custody. Both men reside in the Rajamangalam area of Chennai. Authorities produced them before a magistrate court following their arrest. The court ordered judicial custody for the duo.

These arrests bring the total number of people held in this case to ten. Police earlier detained eight other individuals linked to the murder.

Background of the Victim

Adhi Kesavan, also known as Adhi, was 23 years old. He faced seven criminal cases, including a murder charge. Rajamangalam police listed him under the 'B' category in their history sheet.

Adhi visited the hospital on Sunday night. He went to meet his girlfriend, Suchitra, who is 21 years old. Suchitra's premature baby died on January 11. Adhi decided to sleep near the labour ward along with other patient attenders.

The Fatal Attack

In the early hours of Monday, assailants tracked Adhi's movements while he slept. They hacked him to death at the hospital. The attack shocked the local community and raised serious questions about hospital security.

Previous Arrests and Incidents

Police previously arrested eight persons in this case. The list includes Suchitra, Charumathi, Surya, Ali Bhai, Karthik, Sriram, Jayapratap, and Vanakumar.

During the arrest operation, Jayapratap and Vanakumar fractured their hands. They sustained these injuries while attempting to escape from police custody.

Police Suspensions for Negligence

City Police Commissioner A Arun took strict action following the murder. He ordered the suspension of five police personnel for negligence in hospital security duties.

The suspended officers are Special Sub-Inspector Giridharan, Police Constable Narenthiran, and Policewomen Saritha, Ambika, and Neelavathi. This move highlights the department's response to security lapses.
