Victims and Their Final Journey

The van had two young men on board. T Dhanush, aged 24, was driving the vehicle. P Mariappan, aged 21, worked as the cleaner. Their journey began on Thursday night from Krishnagiri district. The van carried a full load of flowers destined for markets in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin.

They successfully unloaded flowers in Tirunelveli during the early hours of Friday. After completing that delivery, they proceeded towards Tuticorin. The fatal crash happened during this final leg of their trip.

Immediate Aftermath and Response

The impact was severe. The van smashed directly into the rear of the parked lorry. Both Dhanush and Mariappan died instantly at the scene. Their bodies were trapped inside the mangled driver's cabin.

Local police and fire & rescue services personnel rushed to the spot. They worked carefully to recover the bodies from the wreckage. The remains were then sent to the Tuticorin Government Medical College Hospital. A post-mortem examination will be conducted there as per standard procedure.
