Two Cousins Killed in Tragic Tractor-Bike Collision in Jamshedpur
A devastating road accident claimed the lives of two young men in Jamshedpur on Tuesday, when a speeding tractor collided with a motorbike on the Tata-Patamda Main Road. The incident occurred near Bamni Hotel under the jurisdiction of the Patamda police station in East Singhbhum district, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The victims have been identified as Sumit Singh, aged 20, and Sukhdev Singh, aged 21, who were cousins traveling from Patamda to Burudih in Ghatsila at the time of the accident. According to preliminary reports, the tractor was moving at high speed when it struck their motorbike, resulting in immediate fatalities. In a disturbing turn of events, the tractor driver abandoned his vehicle behind a nearby school and fled the scene, leaving the victims and their families in anguish.
Police Response and Investigation
Patamda police station in-charge (OC) Vishnu Charan Bhokta confirmed that the driver has not been apprehended yet, and an investigation is currently underway to trace the culprit. The tractor involved in the collision has been seized by authorities as part of the ongoing probe. Bhokta emphasized that efforts are being made to identify and locate the driver, who faces serious charges for causing death due to negligent driving and fleeing the accident site.
Separate Stunt-Related Incident Adds to Road Safety Concerns
In a related but separate incident, two other men were injured nearly 500 metres away from the fatal crash site. Ranjit Singh, 19, and Dev Kumar, 20, fell off their bike while performing stunts and were subsequently admitted to the Patamda community health center for treatment. This additional accident highlights broader issues of road safety and reckless behavior in the area, prompting calls for increased vigilance and enforcement.
The tragic loss of Sumit and Sukhdev Singh has underscored the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations and improved road safety measures in Jamshedpur and surrounding regions.
