Tragic Highway Collision Claims Two Lives Near Jaipur

A devastating road accident on the busy Jaipur–Delhi National Highway resulted in two fatalities and left three individuals with serious injuries late Saturday night. The collision occurred in the Kotputli area, sending shockwaves through the local community and highlighting ongoing concerns about highway safety.

Details of the Fatal Incident

According to police reports, the tragic crash took place around 10:15 PM when a car traveling from Jaipur towards Delhi suddenly lost control. The vehicle reportedly jumped the central divider and collided head-on with another car registered in Karnal, Haryana, which was heading in the opposite direction towards Jaipur. The impact of the collision was severe, causing immediate casualties at the scene.

Casualties and Immediate Response

Station House Officer Rajesh Sharma of Kotputli police station confirmed that one person from each vehicle died instantly in the crash. The deceased were identified as Dinesh Kumar (28), a resident of Karnal in Haryana, and Ketan Sharma (30), who hailed from Kotputli-Behror. Three other individuals sustained injuries in the accident: Praveen and Rahul, both residents of Lakshmi Nagar in Kotputli, and Savita Devi, another Karnal resident.

Emergency services rushed the injured to the government BDM Hospital in Kotputli for initial medical treatment. After receiving primary care, all three were subsequently referred to the larger SMS Hospital in Jaipur for more comprehensive medical attention. Police officials noted that Savita Devi was reported to be in stable condition following the accident.

Investigation and Post-Accident Procedures

Authorities revealed that Dinesh Kumar had been traveling to Jaipur with his family members to visit relatives when the tragic incident occurred. The bodies of both deceased individuals were kept at the mortuary of the government BDM Hospital in Kotputli. Family members were promptly informed about the accident, and post-mortem examinations were conducted on Sunday as part of the official investigation into the crash.

This fatal collision on one of North India's busiest highways has once again raised questions about road safety measures and driver awareness on high-speed corridors. The Jaipur-Delhi National Highway witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day and night, with numerous accidents reported annually along various stretches of this crucial transportation artery.

Local authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances that led to the car losing control and crossing the divider. Preliminary reports suggest that factors such as driver fatigue, speeding, or mechanical failure might have contributed to the tragedy, though official findings are still awaited. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of cautious driving, especially during nighttime hours when visibility and reaction times can be compromised.
