Varanasi: Two criminals were apprehended following an encounter with police near Undi village in the Shivpur police station area of Varanasi on Friday. According to reports, Varanasi SOG in charge Gaurav Kumar Singh, along with his team and a contingent of Shivpur police, laid siege after receiving intelligence about the arrival of the criminals.
Encounter Details
The criminals opened fire at the police team when ordered to halt. In the retaliatory firing, notorious criminal Vishal sustained a bullet injury to his leg. His accomplice, Rohit, who attempted to flee the scene, was chased down and captured by SOG personnel.
Criminal Background
More than a dozen cases are registered against Vishal. Notably, he was involved in a theft of crores of rupees at a GST officer's residence in the Shivpur police station area in recent days.
