Two Arrested in Ulhasnagar After Assault Video Goes Viral

ULHANSAGAR: Two individuals have been taken into custody following the circulation of a distressing video on social media that allegedly depicts women being assaulted, stripped to semi-nakedness, having their hair cut off, and being paraded with garlands made of slippers in Maharashtra's Ulhasnagar, police confirmed on Saturday.

Incident Details

According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred in the Vitthal Wadi locality of Ulhasnagar and originated from a disagreement between two families belonging to the same community regarding entry into a local temple.

Ulhasnagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shailesh Kale stated that a formal complaint has been registered against seven individuals, with two arrests already made. He elaborated, "A case has been filed at Ulhasnagar Police Station under various relevant sections. The case has been registered against seven persons, out of whom two have been arrested so far. The conflict arose from a dispute between two families of the same community over temple entry, leading to mutual opposition. Cases have been registered against members of both families involved in the altercation."
