Thiruvananthapuram: Museum police arrested two youths on Tuesday in connection with an attack on a young man at Manaveeyam Veedhi. The accused allegedly assaulted the victim with a weapon after he questioned them for using abusive language in public.
Details of the Incident
The arrested individuals were identified as Kashinathan (22) and Unnikrishnan (23), both residents of Balaramapuram. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 9 pm on Sunday. The victim, a native of Malayinkeezhu, was standing with his friends and having tea after work when the accused approached them and began hurling abuses. When the youth questioned their behavior, the accused allegedly attacked him using a weapon and also assaulted his friends.
Injuries and Legal Action
The victim sustained injuries to his face in the attack and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police officials stated that a case was registered following the victim's complaint, and the accused were arrested during the investigation. Further inquiries revealed that Kashinathan is involved in approximately three other assault cases registered at Balaramapuram police station.
The arrested men have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Police continue to investigate the matter to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined.
