Private Tutor Arrested for Heinous Crimes Against 13-Year-Old Dalit Student in Lucknow

In a shocking case from Lucknow, a 28-year-old private tutor has been arrested for allegedly committing a series of brutal crimes against a 13-year-old Dalit girl, including multiple rapes, forced abortion, and death threats. Police officials revealed the disturbing details on Monday, highlighting the vulnerability of minors in educational settings.

Details of the Alleged Assault and Coercion

According to DCP South, Nipun Agarwal, the victim is a Class IX student at a private school and hails from Bijnor, with both her parents employed in government service. The accused, a native of Banda, was tutoring the girl at her residence. The first incident reportedly occurred on January 22, when the girl's parents were at work and her grandmother was outside the house.

"The accused allegedly raped the minor and threatened to ruin her life when she resisted," stated DCP Agarwal. This pattern of abuse continued until February 12, when the tutor discovered the girl was pregnant. In a further act of cruelty, he administered medication to induce an abortion, leading to a deterioration in her health.

Police Action and Legal Framework

The victim eventually confided in her mother, prompting her father to file a formal complaint on February 21. An FIR has been registered under multiple stringent laws, including:

  • Sections 74, 65(1), 89, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
  • Sections 5/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
  • Sections 3(1)(d), 3(1)(dh), and 3(2)(v) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act

DCP Agarwal also noted that the accused has two prior criminal cases registered against him in Banda, raising concerns about his background and the vetting of private tutors.

Broader Implications and Community Impact

This case underscores critical issues in child safety, particularly for marginalized communities like Dalits. The exploitation of a trusted educational role for such crimes has sent shockwaves through the local community, calling for stricter regulations and awareness. Authorities are urging parents to be vigilant and ensure proper safeguards when hiring private tutors.

The arrest marks a step toward justice, but it also highlights the urgent need for systemic changes to protect vulnerable children from similar atrocities in the future.
