A 55-year-old sub-inspector of police lost his life after his two-wheeler collided head-on with another motorcycle near Trichy on Tuesday. Two others sustained serious injuries.
Victim Identification
The deceased has been identified as R Datchinamoorthy, a resident of Kilakurichi near Thiruverumbur. Datchinamoorthy was serving at the Thuvarankurichi police station and was on medical leave due to health issues.
Accident Details
On Tuesday around 8.15 pm, Datchinamoorthy was riding his two-wheeler from Indira Nagar towards Poolangudi. While passing by BHEL, his motorcycle collided head-on with another two-wheeler.
Injuries and Medical Response
Datchinamoorthy suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to Thuvakudi general hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The other motorcycle riders, identified as D Anbarasan (22) and R Moorthy (21), both from Thuvarankurichi, also sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
Legal Action
Based on a complaint, BHEL station police registered a case under sections 281, 125(a), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving, endangering lives, and causing death by negligence.
Autopsy and Funeral
An autopsy was performed on the body, after which it was handed over to Datchinamoorthy’s family members. He is survived by his wife and two sons. On Wednesday, Datchinamoorthy’s funeral took place in his native village of Kilakurichi with full government honors and a 21-gun salute.
Condolences
Trichy superintendent of police Dongare Pravin Umesh and additional superintendent Aravind Banavath paid floral tributes at the funeral.
