Trichy Police Arrest 10 History-Sheet Criminals in Major City-Wide Operation

Police made the arrests in multiple police station jurisdictions. Four arrests occurred in Palakkarai. Two arrests took place in Srirangam. One arrest each happened in Fort, General Hospital (GH), Woraiyur, and Gandhi Market police station areas.
The operation lasted for twelve hours. It involved coordinated and targeted raids. City police commissioner N Kamini supervised the entire operation.
Charges and Seizures
The accused face various charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These charges include:

- Voluntarily causing hurt
- Voluntarily causing grievous hurt
- Theft
- Criminal intimidation
- Possession of narcotic drug tablets and ganja
Police seized weapons such as knives during the raids. They also recovered contraband substances. The arrested individuals were presented before appropriate magistrates. The court remanded them to judicial custody.
Operation Structure and Aim
The operation involved senior police officials. Deputy commissioners of police for north, south, and headquarters zones participated. Assistant commissioners and inspectors from all fourteen police stations in Trichy took part.
Police stated the primary aim of the operation. They wanted to closely monitor and suppress illegal activities. The focus was on people registered in police history-sheet records. These individuals are often known as rowdies.
